At least three people were killed and five
others wounded when a suicide bomber attacked Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB)
headquarters in Afghan capital city Kabul on Wednesday.
Police spokesman in Asmayee Zone, Basir Mujahid told media that a suicide
bomber on foot attempted to attack the ACB but detonated explosives strapped
to his body when stopped by police.
The official confirming the toll said that the dead included one policeman
and the injured included two policemen.
The attack targeted the ACB office located inside the stadium at a time
when a domestic cricket tournament was underway.
All the players and cricket officials remained safe in the attack.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack but Taliban
rebels have paced up their attacks across Afghanistan after rejecting newly
announced strategy on Afghanistan by US President Donald Trump, which involves
maintaining a US military presence in the country.
