Service Description

  • This service allows citizens to issue licenses to open private physician and dental clinics

Eligibility or Criteria

  • If the applicant is a Kuwaiti physician who has obtained the bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery or bachelor's degree in dental medicine and surgery:
  • The applicant must have at least five years of practical experience in the field of specialty
  • The applicant must work full-time in the clinic
  • In case of requesting a license to work in a clinic outside the official working hours
  • The applicant must be an expert Kuwaiti physician in his field of specialty. The applicant may not resign from the government sector
  • The approvals of the government entity (Ministry of Health/Kuwait University/Ministry of Defence) the applicant works at must be obtained
  • The approval of the Medical License Committee of the Ministry of Health must be obtained
  • Medical fitness must be confirmed
  • The professional license to work in the State of Kuwait must be obtained

Required Documents

  • License request letter from the medical institute
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Authenticated scientific qualifications and certificates of experience
  • Copy of the civil ID and nationality certificate, for Kuwaiti applicants
  • Copy of the civil ID and copy of the passport, for non-Kuwaiti applicants
  • Four (4) personal photos
  • Document stating that the applicant is a member in Kuwait Medical Association
  • Civil ID subscription
  • Membership card in the continued higher education
  • Health fitness certificate from the General Medical Council
  • Certificate from the Public Authority for Social Securities, for Kuwaiti applicants

Procedures

Visit the Medical License Department of the Ministry of Health and submit the required documents
Fill the service application form
Obtain the primary approval from the Medical License Committee, valid for 6 months and can be renewed
Submit the clinic plan or the lease contract or the property document
Submit the approvals of Kuwait Municipality, Kuwait Fire Service ‎Directorate, and the Environment Public Authority. Then, the primary approval is obtained from the Medical License Department of the Ministry of Health
Start the equipping procedures of the clinic, provided that all the required terms and conditions are met according to the medical specialty
Have the terms and requirements of professional licenses to work in the clinic for physicians, medical staff and technicians met. Following this phase, a final inspection is made on the clinic by the committee concerned
Pay the fees due. The license to open a clinic is issued

Fees

(0) KD Variable Fees
(100) KD Fixed Fees: Changing the clinic location
(250) KD Fixed Fees: Clinic license for two years
(100) KD Fixed Fees: Renewal of clinic license, renewal request must be submitted three months before the end of the license
