Registration Certificate of Pesticides (Agriculture/Public Health) Required to be Imported and Used inside Kuwait

Service Description

  • This service allows citizens and companies and organizations in the business sector to conduct the studies and chemical and biological tests on pesticide active substances required to be registered for importing and usage inside Kuwait.

Eligibility or Criteria

  • The pesticide must be authorized for use inside Kuwait.
  • The applicant company must have a license to import pesticides or have applied to obtain one from the Ministry of Health.
  • High risk or extremely poisonous pesticides may not be registered unless proved that other alternatives which are less poisonous are not available. This is decided by the Joint Permanent Committee for the Organization of the Pesticide Manufacturing, Importation and Usage.
  • Five (5) samples of the pesticide and one (1) standard sample of the active substances of the pesticide required to be registered must be presented while firmly closed. These samples will be subject to biological experiments and examination to determine their effectiveness on the targeted insect or pest, as well as to chemical analysis.
  • The label on the box of the pesticide required to be registered must be written in clear Arabic and English and cannot be removed or changed. The label cannot be accepted if folded.
  • The label on the pesticide to be registered must include the following data:
  • The commercial name of the pesticide
  • The name of the active substance, its concentration and the ingredients
  • Copy of pesticide equipment
  • Name of the producing company and its address
  • Types of pests affected by the pesticide
  • The proportions of mixture and use
  • Precautions to be taken in order to protect human beings and untargeted creatures
  • First aid
  • Date of pesticide production and date of expiration
  • Warning signs for safety and security
  • A flammable/inflammable sign
  • The phrase "Keep the pesticide out of the reach of children"
  • A clear and remarkable sign on the containers that contain concentrated and extremely poisonous pesticides
  • Classification according to the degree of poisonousness
  • Methods to dispose of the empty containers
  • Batch Number
  • The size and weight of the container, provided that the weight of the container is not less than (1/4) kg and not more than (1) kg for solid substances and/or not less than (1/4) litre and not more than (1) litre for liquids for sale in the local market.
  • Waiting period, in case the pesticide is used against animals or crops

Required Documents

  • Original copy of the certificate of manufacturing origin of the pesticide indicating the name of pesticides required to be registered and authenticated by the Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Kuwait in the country of origin.
  • Original copy of the certificate of pesticide usage indicating the name of pesticides required to be registered and authenticated by the Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Kuwait in the country of origin.
  • Original copy of the certificate of agency from the producing company indicating the name of pesticides required to be registered and authenticated by the Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Kuwait in the country of origin.
  • Original copy of the chemical analysis certificate of the pesticides required to be registered and approved by the producing company.
  • Document showing the method of analyzing the pesticide required to be registered by the producing company.
  • Document that includes the scientific and technical data on the pesticide required to be registered.
  • The original label on the container of the pesticide required to be registered must be written in clear Arabic and English and cannot be removed or changed. The label cannot be accepted if folded.
  • The registration file of the pesticide that includes all the original documents of the pesticide required to be registered and two (2) copies.
  • A pledge letter from the producing company to reship the pesticides banned from being used or imported pursuant to a decision by the Joint Permanent Committee for the Organization of the Pesticide Manufacturing, Importation and Usage or those that are not consistent with the conditions of the executive regulations.

Procedures

Bring the registration file including the required documents and two (2) copies and visit the Pest Control Section at the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health
Provide five (5) samples of the pesticide and one (1) standard sample of the active substances of the pesticide required to be registered

Variable Fees
(250) KD Fixed Fees: Fees for first time pesticide registration for three (3) years
(100) KD Fixed Fees: Fees for pesticide re-registration every three (3) years. The fees are paid six months before the expiration of registration following the same steps.
