The Kuwait Medical Association (KMS) on Wednesday launched Balsam campaign to help support the health sector in the Gaza Strip by providing medical equipment and rehabilitating medical centers, clinics and departments.
KMS Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Ibrahim Al-Tawala said during the initiation of the campaign, the idea of Balsam flung from the committee of Palestine in order to sound the sufferings of the Health sector in the Gaza Strip.
He also mentioned the campaign is cooperated with licensed charitable organizations with experience in implementing relief project and transforming ideas into reality to restore hope to those who lost the most basic necessities of life.
Balsam campaign is an extension of Kuwait's embraced humanitarian efforts ever since its support for the people in Gaza began, as the issue is not the responsibility of an individual or entity but rather the issue of a nation in which giving is unified.
Adding, "Doctors have grave responsibility, which is to be witnesses of truth in a time when falsehood seeks to obscure the truth and our responsibility is to unveil to the world how these hospitals turned into ruins? How is there pain without medicine and the wounded without treatment? How did the Health sector breathe its last breath under the wreckage?
On his part, the General Surgery consultant at Balsam, Dr. Mohammad AL-Kanderi said the team is working alongside the Palestinian Health Ministry and WHO and other charitable organizations in Kuwait to unify the efforts and integrate roles in order to achieve the set goals.
"We are working to rehabilitate the hospitals and provide the medicine and equipment's needed and help support medical personnel in coordination with the Palestinian Health Ministry in order to set priorities and unify international efforts", said Al-Kanderi.
He also said that it is time to rebuild the Health sector in Gaza to an even better provision than it was before the Israeli aggression destroyed all its facilities.
Member of the Board at Balsam, Dr. Safiya Al-Otaibi said this campaign comes as an ethical and medical obligation to the Kuwait Medical Association, with aims to deliver aid to Gaza and reestablish its medical sector's works in addition to supporting the medical education sector.
She also stressed the importance of coordinating with relevant authorities to unify efforts and tasks in a professional manner.
